About FreelanceTaxCalc
Free tax calculators built for the 70 million Americans who work for themselves.
Our Mission
FreelanceTaxCalc was created to solve a real problem. Over 70 million Americans work as freelancers, gig workers, or self-employed individuals. Unlike traditional employees, they have no HR department handling their taxes. No automatic withholding. No guidance. This leaves millions guessing what they owe — often resulting in surprise tax bills, penalties, and missed deductions.
We built these tools to change that. Every calculator on FreelanceTaxCalc is completely free, requires no login or account creation, and gives you clear answers in plain English. No tax jargon. No hidden upsells. Just straightforward calculations that help you understand exactly where you stand with your taxes.
Whether you're a DoorDash driver trying to figure out mileage deductions, a freelance designer calculating quarterly estimated taxes, or a digital nomad navigating tax treaties — we built these tools so you never have to guess.

Every calculator is reviewed by qualified contributors with backgrounds in tax preparation and accounting. Our last major data update was May 2026 for the 2026 tax year.
About the Founder
FreelanceTaxCalc was founded by Tanzeel, a tax researcher and personal finance enthusiast with a passion for helping independent workers navigate the complexities of self-employment taxes. Having experienced firsthand the confusion around quarterly estimated taxes, mileage deductions, and 1099 reporting, Tanzeel built this platform to provide clear, free, and accessible tax tools for the growing freelance economy.
Tanzeel has spent years studying US, Canadian, and UK tax systems, keeping up with annual changes to brackets, standard deductions, self-employment tax thresholds, and retirement contribution limits. Every calculator on this site reflects the latest tax data and is reviewed regularly for accuracy.
This site is not affiliated with the IRS, CRA, HMRC, or any government agency. The tools are research-driven and built on publicly available tax data.
